Hey girls --
So I'm sorry but I still haven't heard back about the weekend rate for the house rental ... I will let you all know ASAP. I would love to offer up our new home for you all to stay at but there is not an accessible bathroom there. So we are crossing our fingers and hoping the house idea works out. If not there are some other options in the area for rentals I can look into it's still far enough ahead of time.
I want you all to know that I am well aware that all of us are doing our best just to pay our bills from one paycheck to the next (me too). I am willing to pitch in as I can to help anyone in need and I'm doing my best to keep the costs of things low but still have a really nice event. Please ignore the expensive stuff on our registry we were really just putting it on there for fun or for older guests who actually might like to purchase such things. They are nothing we'd ever be able to buy for ourselves! We tried to put some cheap stuff on, too but mostly we're hoping for ANY gifts of cash that we could use how we feel best, which of course is on antiques/pottery, that sort of unique thing!
As far as the honeyfund.com registry, we are switching our honeymoon to renting a cabin of sorts on the Outer Banks. just less stress/cost and only a couple hours drive for us from virginia. so i do have to change the site to reflect that and will get to that soon.
You girls are my very best friends and it just would never, ever be the same day without you all. I don't expect anything other than your presence at and participation in the ceremony and reception. Just putting that out there!!
I am planning to be home for a week-ish July 22. I would love if we could all meet up to hash out some of the more minor details. I'm going to bring my dress too :-)
Jenn has informed me the bridesmaids' dresses need petticoats. have you all gotten your dress and tried it on? is it really flat and ugly without the petticoat? i don't know how i missed that you needed one of those. i REALLY hope this isn't the second dress we have to put the kabosh on!! :-(
Shoes .... zappos so we can trade links? they have a ton of fun, affordable shoes and their shipping and return policies are just stellar.
that's all i got ... for now .... i also have addresses that i will forward to sarah and mary for the shower invites.
love you ALL!!! miss you so much.
I'm going to checking out places soon for the wedding shower.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the dress I'm planning on wearing 1950s dress since I purchased it already :)
we don't need to get petticoats I was just mentioning what I saw in the review. If we want the 50s look tho instead of straight down, it has to be poofed out somehow. I am waiting for my dress in the mail, and when I get it I can see how it's made and we can determine whether or not this is a simple hemming job that my mom and I can do for us. She used to make clothes all the time.
ReplyDeletei don't think crazy poofed out is necessary ... if we are hemming the dress maybe boots will be best for everyone? with a longer dress boots are stupid and black shoes are better. i love the cowboy-ish type boots... then those would be very practical to wear with jeans, etc. after the wedding too. let's discuss ...
Deletepoofed out = costumey no? ich no.
Deletedo you all have sunflower yellow cardigans?
DeleteThank you for your sweet post, Karen.
ReplyDeleteI may as well put out there to all that it's been a trying time financially for me so if anyone can help make it possible for me to be there.. I am working hard to make money but also to defray costs. Is anyone else struggling with funding?
If anyone knows folks that can donate funds, space for shower, bachelorette activities, room & board for us in Virginia that would be most helpful. Have any friends that could donate space or services?
I am looking for wedding shower locales, bachelorette locales, as well as places in Virginia for the ladies and the groomsmen to stay overnight friday through monday in Virginia for the celebrations. I am doing this while also in the middle of a move and working 19 out of the next 20 days to buy a plane ticket.
If anyone has suggestions I welcome them!
Thank you Mary for checking out the shower places in person! I'll be in touch soon.
I have a question for ya Jenn for the phone.
I was planning on getting the dress tailored closer to the event so it fits just right. :)
Love to all!! I miss you all so very much.
sarah i just think having everyone in the hampton inn is easiest at this point especially with accessibility and cost and proximity to all events places being a factor. drop it from your list and feel some relief. i love you
DeleteAre we all wearing the same shoes? I thought maybe it'd be fun / practical to find our own eclectic shoes.. with fun pictures of Karen in boots that match our dress.
ReplyDeleteJenn can't wear heels and I know a lot of you love heels. :)
If you'd like us to wear the same shoes that's totally ok though.
Also, are you girls bringing a guest to the wedding? Just curious in terms of overall accommodations we will need.
DIFFERENT SHOES. kickass awesome black shoes, i would prefer a mary jane type if possible or something with a cute bow ... maybe i should post some pics ....
Deletejenn does not have to wear heels if it's impossible :-) i will still love you jenn!
DeleteI totally read "space for shower" as in bathing not bridal-lol...
ReplyDeleteHas a weekend for that been established yet?(for the bridal shower, I'm assuming that everyone is showering regularly hehe..) I'd be glad to help with anything I can just need to know when & where.
I also like the idea of different shoes, just need to know the style/ color you're looking for, Karen
Sarah if there is anything I can do to help just say the word, I think we're all in somewhat of a financial bind but I will gladly contribute what I can to get you out here!
Also the room in Alex & Stacey's apt is still up for grabs if need be- -- it may not be ideal but there are a lot of crafty girls on the team that can make it pretty (and they have a playscape in the next room)
And as for dates yes I will have Michal in tow
Also-- Karen: how long will you be in CT in July? How are you getting there& back? If I can work it out maybe I can roadtrip back to VA with you, I am waaay overdue for a visit!
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet support! I really appreciate even just your emotional support, it feels so great!
If you'd like to help look for rental houses for the bridal party & groomsmen, that would be great. You are especially helpful because you know door widths and the right questions to ask. (What is the door width for accessible entrances?)
Also if you'd like to help with bachelorette & bridal shower ideas / locations that would be great. I may just email you some of the locations Mary & I have looked into.
Tentative bachelorette Friday the 4th
Day of rest Saturday
Tentative bridal shower Sunday the 6th
I really want to know how much you all can reasonably afford to spend on:
bachelorette festivities:
bridal shower possibly:
travel costs to VA including food:
lodging in VA:
My coworker said that the maid of honor for her brother's wedding just kinda laid it out "this is what we're doing" and expected everyone to pay far beyond her ability to afford. It was very inconsiderate. I do not want to do that to anyone, but I also want to give Karen the most special events possible. We can do this!
sorry I owe you a phone call Sarah!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! I appreciate your efforts to make this a FRUGAL thing as the bride I would not have it any other way a wedding and events around the people should be ABOUT THE PEOPLE in the end. i can't wait to see what you girls cook up, it's killing me not to know! will you tell me just a little later on? i like surprises but not total surprises ... xxx!
